European House Plans
About European Home Plans...
Typically designed as one-and-a-half or two-story homes, European house plans feature accents reminiscent of the Old World. Their splendid styling and elegance reminds us of our past while their floor plans deliver the refined style and features preferred by today’s homebuyers. Most European home plans are grand in size and are well suited for large lots and sprawling pieces of property. Their exteriors often feature brick, stucco and/or stone. Steeply sloped rooflines, swooping rooflines, balconies and arched entries make European home plans easy to recognize. Rich ornamental detailing such as, copper roofs atop bay windows, elegant keystones, and decorative quoins accenting the corners, adds a touch of beauty and splendor to most of these homes giving them the look and feel of a castle. Some Luxury home designs, Craftsman homes and Mediterranean house plans share common features with European style house plans.
With European homes, a typically steep, hipped roofline provides room for the second story “in the roof,” which adds space that is not easily noticed from the exterior. This additional space could be a simple bonus room or a full second story. When it comes to the interior, European floor plans are often as grand inside as they appear from the exterior. They often feature open floor plans, rooms of large proportions, and tall or vaulted ceilings in some or most of the gathering spaces. This combination of features delivers a spacious feel. However, not all European home plans are grand and spacious two-story designs. Some are smaller two-stories and others are even comfortable ranches, but they all offer some of the typical European elements and elegant detailing. Displaying some of the influences of the Old World, designs in this collection of house plans encompass a broad range of architectural styles including Country French, English, Italian, Mediterranean, Spanish, and Tudor designs. Ranging in size from simple chalets to sprawling chateau floor plans and offering numerous sub-styles and exterior appearances, European floor plans are widely found throughout all regions of the United States and Canada. Large or small, European designs reveal a masterful blend of comfort and refinement making them popular among a wide range of home buyers. Some of our European house plans are displayed in our Photo Collection.
