So you’ve found the perfect lot. It has a great location and a spectacular view. There’s just one glitch: The best views are only available from a second level. Such a quandary isn’t an issue in this Shingle-style home. The typical two-story layout is reversed, so that the main living spaces and the master suite are on the upper floor. This layout allows you to be surrounded by spectacular views in the areas where you’ll spend the most time. The main-level foyer in this design is purely functional, and for good reason. All the action is on the upper level. Built-ins inside the door provide places to stash coats and shoes. A hallway leads to two secondary bedrooms and the laundry room.
