About Cabin House Plans & Cottage Home Floor Plans...
Cottage home plans and Cabin house plans are very closely related due to their similarities in layout, stature, and function. These designs are generally small in nature and are typically used for recreational purposes. Cabin house plans and cottage home plans work well as secondary residences for weekend homes and Vacation retreats, although some cottages are used as quaint abodes for aging relatives. Most cabins and cottages in this collection offer less than 1200 square feet of living space and do not have a garage. These designs usually feature one or two bedrooms and baths and modest living spaces such as combined living and dining areas and a compact kitchen. Due to their small nature and their ability to fit into the surroundings almost anywhere, these designs are often used for hunting and finish retreats and can sometimes be used as a lake house, Mountain home or Waterfront property. Cabin house plans and cottage home plans are similar to Love Shack house plans.
While similar in design, cabin floor plans and cottage home designs do have a few differences. Sometimes called English cottages, cottage floor plans feature a quaint and decorative exterior displaying charming character and more fanciful trim and details than their cabin cousins. Cottages are more likely to have an asymmetrical design and individual style. These small houses blend in a variety of settings from a cozy neighborhood to a sunny lot along a country road. Cabin house plans and log cabins usually deliver a more rustic appearance allowing the home to blend with its natural surroundings, perfect for a wooded lot, mountainside, or lakefront. Natural materials such as stone and wood are used for exterior finish and trim. Wood finishing and trim are characteristic of the interior finish, as well. Decks, porches and screened porches often enhance cabin plans by delivering an outdoor space to enjoy nature and the surrounding landscape. Whether you prefer an inviting cottage home plan or a cabin with a mountain view, you are sure to find cozy, comfortable and relaxed living in this collection of small home designs.
