Log home plans: Designer Tips
It's true the building process will be challenging and rewarding, but the real fun begins once you have finished building your house from the log home plans you purchased from The House Plan Shop (we hope). It's at this time that you are ready to dress your new log home with a style that is uniquely yours. In general, we recommend starting with some earthy elements and natural colors to complement the style of home you purchased. Adding artwork, rugs and furniture that are as individual as you are is important in making it "home". You certainly don't have to stick to traditional rustic style, but earthy elements enhance the cozy, airy atmosphere of cabin and log home plans.
These elements are not just aesthetically pleasing, but they also promote the relaxing, comfortable lifestyle for which these floor plans were designed. Whether you're building log cabin plans for a vacation home or permanent residence, you should feel at ease in your new rustic haven.
Cabin plans: decorating tips
Be sure to make the most of your new cabin plan by including smaller decorative touches to make your new home unique. Remember, less is more--these homes are designed to be airy and relaxing so you don't want to create clutter.
Here is a list of some decorative elements that you might want to consider after you've finished construction of your new cabin plans:
- Wildlife and Native American Art
- Rustic lighting
- Use interesting upholstery patterns, textures and earthy colors
- Intricate head boards carved with outdoor scenes
- Wooden framed furniture
- Animal print rugs
- Quilts
