Plans: Cabin/Cottage House Plans
Cabin house plans and Cottage home plans are most often built as a secondary or recreational residence. These houses can be used as vacation home plans or as weekend retreats, and are generally less than 1200 square feet. They are typically small in size accommodating one or two bedrooms and baths and offer simple facilities such as a compact galley-style kitchen and a stacked washer and dryer. Usually, these floor plans feature an open living space where the living and dining areas combine offering flexibility. Log cabin designs typically feature a more rustic appeal and work well in a wooded setting or perhaps in a rural area along a creek or lake. Other elements generally characteristic of cabin home designs are their attached decks or porches and interior wood finishing and trim making them perfect for hunting and fishing cabins. Cottage house plans, sometimes referred to as English cottage designs, generally have a quaint appearance and blend well in many settings including the countryside or a neighborhood. Cottage home plans and cabin house plans are cousins to Love Shack house plans and Small and Affordable house plans.
