Plans: Beach/Coastal House Plans

Beach house plans and Coastal home plans are generally one or two levels and can vary in size. These floor plans are sometimes referred to as stilt house plans because they are typically built on pier foundations. The main living areas are raised one level and a parking area is located underneath the home. With these waterfront floor plans, this type of foundation accommodates the potential rising tides of oceanfront property or possible flooding when a river, lake or creek overflows its banks. Being raised one level, pier house plans allow the water to flow underneath the home without any risks to the home or the belongings inside. Beach home plans and coastal house plans are generally designed with several large windows that are strategically placed to maximize the coastal or shoreline view. With large decks and porches, these house plans are created to bring the outdoors in. Sometimes, shoreline home designs feature an open floor plan allowing gentle breezes to flow throughout the home. These homes are suitable for shorelines and are commonly referred to as seaside house plans and oceanfront homes. Often, specialized design elements, materials and construction are necessary to meet building specifications related to the weather and environment specific to regional climates. Some Waterfront designs and Vacation house plans are closely related to Beach house plans and Coastal home plans.
