Usually, these homes are found in high density zoning areas where land is precious and houses are built close together such as large metropolitan areas. Usually one or two levels, these house plans feature open living areas keeping walls and barriers to a minimum, thus creating the look and feel of a much larger living space. Sometimes, a garage is incorporated into the design and situated at the back of the floor plan allowing easy access from an alley. Generally, one-story designs incorporate a long hall grouping the living areas at one end of the home and the bedrooms at the other end for extra privacy. Two-story versions work well on property with limitations by adding square footage in the form of a second level. Not only does this concept create a functional and comfortable layout, but it is economical too.
